If you think it’s impossible to hide your belly with clothes, it’s time to change your mind. Having extra pounds is something that happens to everybody; some common causes are eating in excess, depression, lack of exercise, work-related stress, pregnancy, and weight problems, among others.
However, even with the belly, you can still look great. Take a look at these tips and try them.
Tip #1 Boxy Clothing
Wearing boxy clothes will help you disguise those curves that you don’t like that much. No matter if you’re standing, sitting, or crouching…you’ll look great in all the pictures and feel very confident. Maybe wearing boxy clothing is synonymous with looking big, but it’s better to look heavy than to highlight the belly.
Boxy pieces will always favor you. A boxy dress will give you the perfect length between legs and hips…so much that you’ll fool people who pay close attention to details. It’s much better if it’s a smock; you can complement it with tight jeans and any type of shoes. Don’t worry, it won’t look like you’re wearing pajamas, believe me.
Tip #2 A-line Clothing
It’s about tight clothes on the bust or the shoulders and widen to hem. A-line clothing is more than versatile; wearing them with over-the-knee boots, scarves, pashminas, or even ponchos will give you a unique style, apart from disguising that tummy that bothers you so much.
Tip #3 Liquid Effect
There’s nothing better than the liquid effect or the gravity effect to hide volume in the abdomen. It refers to nothing else but some draping that goes down, down, the floor. You can consider asymmetric clothing to go with the liquid effect in the best way, that is, a naked shoulder, “V” or “U” necks. In fact, the liquid effect and asymmetry are two powerful weapons that are a must in your closet. On the other hand, if you don’t like asymmetric pieces, go get some strapless pieces; it’ll also be perfect for the liquid effect.
Tip #4 Dark Colors
Black, brown, blue and some shades of green could favor you. Pay close attention to your skin and hair color. Sometimes focusing more on the belly makes you forget that playing with other things is really beneficial. For example, see if your skin harmonizes with cool or warm colors. Lightning or opacity is important. Keep in mind that wearing dark colors is a classic, but you’re probably made for bright colors.
Tip #5 One size bigger
This only applies for some pieces, as coats and sweaters. It makes no sense that you wear a bigger size of skinny jeans, but rather for pieces that complement your entire outfit. For this, you can borrow your boyfriend’s coat or sweater, or from any other person who is a little bit taller than you. You’ll see how you’ll look without spending a penny…if you like it, you can borrow it or get a brand new one from the store.
There you go!
